2012-02-21 Ken Shilson Answers Your NABD 2012 Questions

1. What are the differences between the NABD 2012 National Conference and the Dealer Academy?

The Dealer Academy is intended to provide personalized in-depth training on all financial and operational aspects of the BHPH business. It is a dual-track program for both attendees who have limited BHPH experience and for operators trying to improve their existing operations.

The Academy agenda emphasis is on underwriting and collections, acquiring inventory and on compliance. It will include interactive sessions with capital providers for operators who may not have secured a senior credit facility from a bank and others seeking alternate capital solutions.

The National Conference is intended to update attendees on important developments in the BHPH industry during the last twelve months and to showcase all the latest products / services.

2. Who are the instructors at the Dealer Academy?

The instructors include some of the nation’s most successful operators and leading experts. In addition, three of the nation’s most knowledgeable attorneys – Tom Hudson, Patty Covington, and Keith Whann – will help attendees get complaint and provide insights on future legal and regulatory developments.

3. Who should attend the Dealer Academy?

The training is designed for collectors, underwriters, general managers and key employees seeking to expand their knowledge of BHPH operations. Owners trying to
gain new insights, evaluate their existing business plans and obtain new perspectives are also encouraged to attend. Attendees who wish to attend both events will be offered
 special discounts.

4. Will the Dealer Academy have an exhibit hall?

Yes. The Academy will have an exclusive exhibit hall designed to maximize networking between attendees and industry experts. Two receptions, a luncheon, and a breakfast will be held in the exhibit hall. The exhibit hall will feature alternative capital providers, technology, accountants, payment devices, add-on products, credit data, recoveries, and products to increase sales and find better customers.

5. What can attendees expect to learn by attending the Academy?

During two days of training, all aspects of BHPH will be discussed in depth. All sessions are interactive so attendees can get immediate answers to their questions. The workbook will include a glossary of BHPH terminology which will serve as a valuable future reference tool.

In addition, attendees will receive projection modeling software which can be used to create or to modify BHPH business plans. The software includes the latest industry benchmarks for use by operators who have no prior data.

Attendees will also receive free compliance publications which will update them on legal and regulatory developments. The closing session will help attendees develop an action plan which incorporates the best ideas from all other sessions.

6. Is attendance at the Academy worth taking time away from my operations?

A small investment of time and money can make attendees millions! Operators are encouraged to get new perspectives from this training and by networking with other
successful operators. Your competition will be there, so you can’t afford not to attend!

7. Will there be any additional training offered for Academy attendees?

Yes. Some operators desire personal hands-on training in addition to classroom instruction and networking.

In August, NABD will offer Academy attendees the opportunity to visit one of the nation’s most successful BHPH operations and receive two days of “Boot Camp” training.

This will allow Academy attendees to visualize many of the best ideas from the Academy in practice. In addition, NABD will review each attendee’s financial information and action plan at the “Boot Camp” session.

8. What accommodations are available for the Dealer Academy?

NABD has negotiated $169.00 room rates for suites in the Palazzo. This rate includes an amenities package and no resort fees. It represents a $100.00 per night savings from published rates available during these dates. The Palazzo suites are some of the very best in Las Vegas and the Venetian / Palazzo is a five diamond resort, recently voted as the best hotel resort and casino in Las Vegas. This deal will not be matched.
