2012-11-01 NABD Completes Another Successful East Coast Conference

HOUSTON, TEXAS – The National Alliance of Buy Here, Pay Dealers (NABD) announced the successful completion of another East Coast Buy Here, Pay Here Conference (BHPH) in Atlanta, Georgia. Operators from around the United States and internationally attended the 3-day event which ended October 23. Other notable attendees included senior members of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and leaders from industry groups such as the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) and others.

Ken Shilson, CPA, Founder and President of NABD, indicated the educational program began with twelve dual track workshop sessions on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Workshop topics included legal and regulatory matters, finding the best employees, IRS audits, leasing, integrated system solutions, finding the best customers, maximizing recoveries, telephone collection tips, payment devices, skip-tracing, avoiding underwriting mistakes, alternative credit data, alternative repayment solutions, internet best practices, and finding capital.

On Monday afternoon, single-track sessions opened with the NABD Hall of Fame induction of legendary Dallas, Texas operator Martin Ingram. Following the induction ceremonies was a joint capital markets update and industry trends presentation from investment banker John Nagy and Ken Shilson. Attendees then enjoyed interactive panel discussions with experts covering inventory sourcing technology, underwriting and collection best practices, lines of credit, floor plans, and private equity. The panels also featured an interactive session with industry leaders from NABD, NIADA, CAFA and attorneys Tom Hudson and Shaun Petersen who provided updates on industry regulatory issues and future collaborative plans to protect the industry from adverse regulatory action. Attendees were urged to become individually compliant, and to design systems that effectively and efficiently satisfy consumer complaints.

Ted Craig, editor of Used Car News and Nick Zulovich, editor for Subprime Auto Finance News, provided an update on industry developments during the last twelve months and answered attendee questions. The educational sessions collectively focused on providing attendees with a legal and regulatory update, information on all the latest technology, places to find capital, and operating best practices in redesigned, interactive sessions.

A “sold out” exhibit hall provided exceptional networking sessions and a new sports lounge where Sunday and Monday night football (sponsored by Manheim) was enjoyed by everyone.

NABD will offer audio recordings of all the Atlanta sessions. To purchase, call NABD headquarters at 832-767-4759. Such recordings will include a disc with all PowerPoint™ presentations made during the Conference.
