NABD Conducts National Payment Device Study
Houston, Texas; March 4, 2011–The National Alliance of Buy Here, Pay Here Dealers (NABD) today announced that it is conducting a national online survey of payment device practices using its newly-revamped interactive website at www.bhphinfo.com. The survey is being conducted from now through March 31, 2010 and is open to all users of these devices.
Ken Shilson, CPA and President/Founder of NABD indicated this is the third study on payment devices and that it will be the largest such survey ever conducted. “Our two previous studies gained valuable information on the use of both payment assurance and GPS tracking devices. The results of these previous studies are available free of charge on the NABD website.
“From the previous studies we learned that these devices are very beneficial but that operators utilize them differently which impacts results. Therefore this national survey will allow us to determine the practices of a broader number of operators, thereby producing more empirical results”.
Shilson indicated that the results will be independently correlated and announced during a special workshop at the NABD 2011 National Buy Here, Pay Here Conference, which will be held in Las Vegas on May 18-20, 2011. During this special session we will explain the results and conclusions, and answer questions. Device providers will be present in the workshop to comment on the results and to respond to questions. The conclusions reached can be used to develop best practice recommendations.
In addition, Shilson through NABD is now drafting a payment device “white paper” which will explain the differences between technologies, discuss common practices, and quantify the results which can be expected from these practices.
NABD also announced that it will hold a BHPH Dealer Training Academy on May 16-17, 2011 at The Venetian in Las Vegas prior to its National Conference. The Academy will stress “how to run a BHPH operation successfully” including the use of these devices.
People who participate in the survey will obtain a copy of all three studies and the “white paper” free of charge. In addition, the two best survey respondents will receive free registrations to the national conference.
