In the past, there was an industry association known as the National Alliance of Buy Here, Pay Here Dealers (NABD). Founded in 1998, NABD operated until 2017, when its assets and activities were acquired by the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA). During that period (1998–2017), NABD functioned as a national trade group dedicated to dealers in the buy here, pay here sector.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, NABD welcomed members from across the United States and collaborated with national and state-level automotive associations. Its mission was to improve the quality and professionalism of independent BHPH dealerships by offering education, industry-specific training, and advocacy.
The association became widely recognized for its large conferences and training events, most notably the National BHPH Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, and regional events such as the Eastern Conference in Orlando, Florida. These gatherings provided opportunities for dealers from different states to share best practices, gain industry insights, and strengthen professional networks.
NABD’s purpose was always to supplement – not replace – the work of other national dealer organizations. Its educational role helped many independent dealerships enhance their operations and serve customers more effectively.
Today, the project bhphinfo.com exists as an independent educational resource. It continues to provide information and insights for those interested in the BHPH industry, but it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the former NABD organization.
